Radomir Lazovic, an MP of the Green-Left Club - Don't Let Belgrade D(r)own, has said that at the session on June 6 MPs will discuss the forming of a select committee tasked with determining the facts and circumstances that led to two mass murders in early May.

Lazovic told Nova S TV that it was precisely that select committee that could give answers to many questions asked by citizens, in relation to the mass shootings at Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School in Belgrade and in the Smederevo and Mladenovac areas.

"We were all deeply shaken by Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic's statement that the system had not failed, a day after the tragedy. I think the prime minister could not have had any analyses or any findings that could have told her anything about the system," said Lazovic.

Those statements, as he put it, could mean either that Brnabic is doing that to "shield herself and her officials from responsibility, or that she won't change anything."

"That is why the opposition demanded this parliament session and that is why we are demanding a select committee that will go into the smallest details of what was happening when these tragic events occurred and everything we need to do so that they never happen again," he said.

Lazovic added that the select committee, if a decision is made to form it, would last 30 days and would be led by an opposition representative.
