Professor of social psychology at the Belgrade School of Philosophy Zoran Pavlovic has said that citizens' protest "have brought the essential need to overcome fear and an awareness that it is alright to be sad, angry and disgusted with what is going on and that those there are those who think differently and there is nothing scary about that."

"And that this must not be punishable but very rewarding," Pavlovic said in an interview with the June 29 NIN weekly. He said that "for far too long dignity has been trampled on and there are more and more people in the streets and even more who, in the confines of their four walls think - enough."

"Someone in public office has critically failed to understand something about state affairs and their role in them. To be a citizen of a country is a political fact per se. Asking that citizens stay away from politics is like saying that they should not exist. They have already tried suggestions that they go somewhere else," Pavlovic stressed.
