The Serbian Parliament’s Survey Committee, tasked with establishing facts and circumstances which led to two mass shootings in Serbia, one in Belgrade elementary school Vladislav Ribnikar and the other in the villages of Dubona and Malo Orasje, in the vicinity of Mladenovac, is to hold its first session on July 18.

The mass shootings took place on May 3 and 4, killing 20 people.

Committee chairperson and deputy chairperson are to be elected at the July 18 session.

It was the Serbian opposition which has requested setting up a Survey Committee with the aim of establishing oversights of the relevant bodies and accountability of relevant persons and proposing adequate measures.

The request has also received backing of the ruling majority MPs at a special Parliament’s session focusing on the accountability for two mass shootings.
