The Association of Journalists of Serbia and its Kosovo branch have protested a decision by the Kosovo Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade to confirm the cancellation of the Klan Kosova TV's lisence and demanded that the biggest TV channel in Kosovo be allowed to work freely, the Association said in a press release.
The organization said the decision could not stand and likened it to "an act of censorship leading to undermining of the freedom of the press and media pluralism."
Journalists, members of civil society and public figures held a protest in Pristina on July 31 in support of Klan Kosova.
On June 14, the Kosovo Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade filed a criminal report against Klan Kosova claiming that the company business documentation cites the towns of Pec and Djakovica, in Serbia.
Later, the Kosovo Business Registration Agency revoked Klan Kosova's work certificate, and the Pristina Complaints Commission found on July 28 that the Agency had followed the law after the media outlet complained about the cancellation of the certificate.
