People's Party whip Miroslav Aleksic has said that popular dissatisfaction "is such that everything is starting to boil like in a pressure cooker" and that "at one point the valve will have to give."

"This will happen soon because citizens are realizing that power is in their hands,"  Aleksic told the Aug. 3 edition of the NIN weekly. Aleksic said that the current opposition "is harder, tougher and ready to fight more than even the opposition during the time of Milosevic" and that "it believes that change will happen  in Serbia over night."

"The protests have fully restored citizens's hopes that they can change the government and on the other side members and sympathizers of the Serbian Progressive Party are very scared and their morale has dropped like never before," Aleksic said. He added that "in this kind of an ambient they are trying to save themselves, not Aleksandar Vucic," and that, "Proof of this is his failure to create his own movement on June 28 as he announced."

"In over 30 cities citizens have risen. What has been happening during the summer shows decisiveness and resilience, which are necessary, while starting September it will be a fight at a far higher level. This hatred and aggression that we are living in cannot continue to exist," Aleksic said.
