A new political organization, the Liberals and Democrats (LibDem), said on Aug. 30 that a draft resolution promoting Srebia’s entry into the BRICS bloc of nations including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, submitted to the Serbian parliament by Aleksandar Vulin’s Movement of Socialists, “is yet another attempt at driving Serbia away from the path to the European Union (EU), whereas the time to do it was not randomly chosen either.”

“Serbia has decided that accession to the EU should be a priority of its foreign policy, and if something has changed in that regard, we would like the Serbian president to tell us that publicly, instead of hiding behind Vulin, who should have been dismissed already, instead of lecturing us where this country should be tomorrow,” says the LibDem, a new party led by Djordjo Zujovic.

“We know very well that Vulin and his chief would like Serbia to join the organization composed of the states in which respect for human rights, freedoms and diversities come last, but their dreams will not come true,” the party said in a release.

Trade with EU states accounts for 60 percent of Serbia’s foreign trade, and Germany, the Union’s leading state, is our foreign trade partner number one. “If we know all that, it is difficult to understand that anyone in this state could play a game of Asian integration, while using all the advantages of the West,” the new party cautioned.
