Representatives of the pro-European opposition, who had asked the management of public service RTS to report objectively, have dismissed the RTS board's position that they are actually calling for lynching.

The board pointed out that RTS was the only broadcasting company to adhere to the code of ethics, and wondered why no one was reacting to calls for lynching, suggesting that this is what the opposition representatives who several days ago submitted a request to RTS for truthful and objective information are doing, daily Danas writes in its Sept. 15 issue.

People's Movement of Serbia leader Miroslav Aleksic said that maybe the RTS management did not understand the demand from the opposition and citizens who had been fighting for a Serbia free of violence for more than four months now, but, he added, they should understand the Constitution and the Information Law.

"The public service which is paid by every citizen of Serbia is obliged to objectively, truthfully and in a timely manner inform all citizens about all important events, rather than be in the service of the ruling regime's campaign," he said.

Green-Left Front MP Radomir Lazovic said that the competent representatives of RTS had been given a clear and concrete request to ensure the adequate presence of elected representatives of the people on the public service.

"In many organized European societies, which we strive for, public services are regulated exactly in the way that we proposed," said Lazovic.

He added that the representation in percentage of all parliamentary political parties on RTS was "the minimum that should be ensured so that citizens can also hear opposition representatives and an opinion different from the Progressive regime's propaganda."
