Serbian Minister of Health Danica Grujicic said on Sept. 20 that there’s no reason to panic over the coronavirus, as the number of COVID-19 cases was rising, but was well below pandemic levels.

Grujicic said during an interview with the Prva TV that hospitals were “not overcrowded,” but that for certain categories of patients flu might be dangerous. Grujicic said that her ministry’s Working Group suggested that masks should be worn in hospitals, or near oncological and chronical patients.

The health minister also said that the elderly should wear masks on a bus, if crowded. “It is important to use precautionary measures, vaccines and medicaments are available, and the COVID-19 treatment guidelines, “once a COVID-19 case is confirmed” have not changed, Grujicic explained. “Citizens have gradually regained trust in the healthcare sector, and polls suggest that they trust their chosen general practitioners most,” the minister said in the interview.
