Freedom and Justice Party Proposes Single Opposition Ticket in Upcoming Elections
A single unified ticket titled “Serbia Against Violence” would be the opposition’s best bet in the upcoming December elections, the oppositional Freedom and Justice Party said on Oct. 18.
According to its press release, the party’s presidency reached this conclusion based on “an analysis of polls which, over the past two days, were presented to the parties technically organizing the [Serbia Against Violence] protests.”
“In accordance with this, the Freedom and Justice Party considers the issue of mandates marginal and we are, therefore, in reaching a final agreement on a single ticket and mandate distribution, prepared to abide by the results of any public opinion poll rating individual opposition parties,” the party said, adding that it is “necessary” for the opposition to run “in the same format” at all election levels, i.e. in the parliamentary, provincial and local elections.
The party concluded by expressing its belief that “other oppositional parties share the same stance.”
