Alva Romanus Baptiste, Foreign Minister of the Caribbean Country of St. Lucia, whose country is chairing UNESCO's executive council, met in Belgrade on Dec. 12 with Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic with whom he discussed developing bilateral relations.

"We especially thank St. Lucia for its decision to withdraw its recognition of Kosovo thereby confirming its friendship with Serbia" which also shows that it respects international law, Dacic told reporters.

After St. Lucia was chosen to chair UNESCO's executive council at the end of November, Baptiste said that "there will be no change in our principled approach to the sovereignty and integrity of Serbia and when we make decisions in UNESCO."

"I asked to constantly coordinate the ongoings at UNESCO because were are constantly facing pressure for Kosovo to become a member. Kosovo which destroys Serbian cultural heritage there by claiming that it is Albanian and Kosovo's cultural heritage," Dacic said.

Dacic told reporters that he and Baptiste talked about cooperation in the economy, education, security and in the area of interior affairs, while Baptiste added that the two officials talked about cooperation in developing tourism, and that he hoped that direct flights would be introduced from Serbia to St. Lucia, adding that they also talked about youth and sports.
