Democratic Party president Zoran Lutovac, who is visiting Bucharest as a member of a party delegation to a conference of leaders of the Party of European Socialists, said on April 6 that he expected the party's partners, European Democrats and Social Democrats, to provide strong support "to efforts to make Serbia an orderly democratic state."

"We wish our colleagues from sister parties success in the important forthcoming election. The official motto of the European Social Democrats in this campaign is 'We Stand Together - For Our Europe.' Serbia is an inseparable part of Europe and we expect our partners, European Democrats and Social Democrats, to provide strong support to efforts to make Serbia an orderly democratic state where citizens' election rights are honored," the party quoted Lutovac as saying.

He said that this meant first of all the implementation of the ODIHR's recommendations for elections. "The PES initiated the adoption of the European Parliament's resolution on election fraud in Serbia, and today we were assured of the readiness of our European Social Democrats colleagues to be part of an EP mission to Serbia. When the people can choose freely, our Serbia will become a better place to live," Lutovac stressed.
