French President Emmanuel Macron on April 9 published on his X account that France was committed to Serbia’s EU future, which, he said, was being written right now.

“France is committed to Serbia’s future in the EU, a future that is being written right now,” Macron wrote on X in both, French and Serbian, along a photo with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, with whom he had talked the previous evening in Paris.

Ahead of the meeting, Macron said that Belgrade should not be doubting the EU’s intention to “take Serbia under its wing,” but stressed it was important that Serbia “continues to concretize its choice by aligning its positions with those of the EU.”

“That choice also has to be underpinned by continuing and accelerated reforms relating to strengthening the rule of law, judicial independence and media pluralism,” Macron told the joint news conference.

He also said that Paris would “do everything” to ensure fulfillment of the commitments deriving from the Agreement on the path to normalization between Kosovo and Serbia, adding it was also important to bring to justice all those involved in attacks on the Kosovo police in the settlement of Banjska, North Kosovo.
