Opposition Leader Savo Manojlovic Urges All Opposition Parties To Leave Parliament, City Assemblies and Engage in Civil Disobedience

Get Going for Change movement leader Savo Manojlovic on June 4 called on opposition parties to leave the Serbian parliament, the city assemblies of Belgrade and Nis and municipal administration of New Belgrade “over election fraud” and to engaged in civil disobedience to continue fight against the regime.

Manojlovic, whose ticket won the largest number of votes in the June 2 local vote in Belgrade after the ruling coalition, said that until 10 am on June 5, opposition parties should make a call on his proposal, adding that if the opposition decided to join effort and stand united, “massive civil disobedience” would start on June 8.

“Amid the obvious vote rigging and tampering with polling station logs in Nis and the Municipality of New Belgrade, we request from all opposition parties represented in the two cities’ assemblies and the Serbian parliament to leave these institutions if changing the will of the people in this way continues,” Manojlovic told reporters outside the Municipal hall of New Belgrade.

He said that the call for civil disobedience was addressed to the opposition parties which had advocated boycotting the June 2 elections as well as those who ran in the elections for to engage in institutional fight against the regime.

“By 10 am on June 5, we should have a clear decision on whether we have a completely delegitimized regime and for to be able to launch civil disobedience together with citizens on Saturday, June 8,” Manojlovic said.
