The opposition Alliance for Serbia leaders on July 24 once again said that the camp would run in the next parliamentary elections only if the authorities met all the Alliance’s demands in relation to free and fair elections.

Commenting on President Aleksandar Vucic’s statement that he would invite international organizations to validate the electoral roll prior to the next vote, Party of Freedom and Justice leader Dragan Djilas said it would not be enough for the opposition to run in the next vote.

Djilas stressed that the demands clearly defined by the Alliance’s experts had to be satisfied with regard to changes to the Regulatory Authority of Electronic Media (REM), as well as editorial teams and national broadcasters’ programs.

“An accurate electoral register constitutes only a portion of our demands. In order to have elections, we also need free media,” Djilas told a news conference.

He said that Vucic’s intention to invite international organizations was a trick.

Commenting on Vucic’s intention, People’s Party leader Vuk Jeremic described it as “irresponsible and charlatanism.”

“We will run in the elections only if all the demands are met and will settle for nothing less,” Jeremic stressed.
