Self-Determination leader Albin Kurti said on Oct. 18 that Serbia's presence remains a problem in northern Kosovo and added that his future government will solve the issue with the local Serbs.

"We have to be institutionally present in the north of Kosovo, to serve all the inhabitants, be they Serbs or Albanians," he told the website Gazeta Tribuna (gazetatribuna.com) and pointed out that the mines Trepca North and Trepca South should be united.

Website Kosovo Online quoted Kurti as saying that he believes Mitrovica will be unified along with Trepca.

"It was not Pristina and our government who invested in Trepca, but rather Serbia. That should not happen again," he said.

"There will be Kosovo institutions in the Serb-majority municipalities south of the Ibar, too. [Our] presence there is not the problem, Serbia's presence is," said Kurti.
