In his address to the 18th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Baku, Azerbaijan, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said that a political solution for Kosovo remained Serbia's national priority, urging the states that had recognized Kosovo's independence to reconsider their decision, taking into account the far-reaching consequences of such a precedent.
Minister Dacic stated that the principles of sovereignty and political independence should be fully respected as the fundamentals that international peace and security rested on, adding that fostering friendly ties and cooperation between states was of paramount importance as well, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted Dacic as saying on Oct. 23.
The Serbian foreign minister also said that a world based on the rule of law and respect for human rights was the only proper foundation for peace and sustainable development, adding that Serbia felt the consequences of disrespect to the international law, territorial integrity and sovereignty.
