Court of Appeals Judge Miodrag Majic has said that a criminal complaint filed by Milos Vucevic (Novi Sad Mayor) against President Aleksandar Vucic and his brother Andrej for the Jovanjica case (a marijuana plant), represents yet another degradation of the judiciary.

“If there existed institutions that do their job in accordance with the Constitution and national legislation of Serbia we would not be witnessing this situation. It is said that this criminal complaint will serve to shed light on the case. This means that without an initiative of top state officials, we cannot get any answer. Apparently, top officials need to be engaged for to establish the truth. And it means degradation of the judiciary, which is partially itself responsible for this situation,” Majic has told Belgrade daily

According to him, bargaining for the time the Prosecutor’s Office would need to process the complaint also represents pressure on the judiciary.
