Serbian Progressive Party official Zorana Mihajlovic has said that she is not surprised by an offer from Socialist Party of Serbia leader Ivica Dacic for the two parties to jointly participate in the upcoming election because, as she put it, everyone wants to be on the winning side.
"It's much easier and cheaper for Dacic to maintain his own and the positions of the comrades from the Socialist Party of Serbia that way, than to face the citizens on their own. To paraphrase an earlier election slogan, when it gets tough - Vucic," Mihajlovic, who is also the minister of construction, transportation and infrastructure, told daily Blic.
She went on to say that she was not particularly surprised by the fact that this move by Dacic had come right after a statement by Serbian Progressive Party leader Aleksandar Vucic that Serbia needed a broad people's coalition.
"Of course it would be best for the Serbian Progressive Party to take part [in the election] on its own, so that we may all see the status and strength of the other parties leaning on our party. But regardless of the moves in the interests of all others, Vucic and the Serbian Progressive Party will always do what is in the greatest interest of Serbia and its citizens, rather than of our party," said Mihajlovic.
