It was confirmed at a Dec. 23 meeting in Belgrade between Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin and the Russian ambassador to Serbia, Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, that Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu would visit Serbia next year, the Serbian Ministry of Defense reported.

The ambassador delivered to Minister Vulin an invitation to take part in the Moscow Conference next April. Vulin and Botsan-Kharchenko agreed that the two states had developed excellent bilateral ties owing to outstanding personal relations between the Serbian and Russian presidents and supreme commanders-in-chief of the two nations' armed forces, Aleksandar Vucic and Vladimir Putin, which their last meeting in Sochi testified to, the ministry went on to say in a press release.

The Russian diplomat said that bilateral cooperation in the defense sector had been growing continuously, and that technical, economic and educational ties between the two armies constituted an important aspect of it.
