On Orthodox Christmas, Jan. 7, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ , Serbian Patriarch Irinej led the Christmas Liturgy at the Church of St. Sava in Belgrade.

The liturgy was attended by Foreign Minister  Ivica Dacic, Presidency Secretary  Nikola Selakovic, Belgrade Mayor Zoran Radojicic, and the Catholic Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Belgrade, Stanislav Hocevar.

After the liturgy, Bishop of Remesiana and Vicar Bishop of Serbian Patriarch Irinej, Stefan, read the Patriarchal Christmas Encyclical.

In the Christmas Encyclical, Patriarch Irinej said: “The main message again this Christmas is to safeguard our Orthodox Faith and preserve it at all cost… We remind you that we cannot forget our Old Serbia (Kosovo and Metohija). Our relationship toward this holy place should be like that toward the Serbian covenantal thought, word and heritage – inseparable from our people’s being.”
