In just 12 months, from June 2019 to June 2020, the number of employed Croatian citizens dropped by more than 73,000.

The number of the unemployed jumped to over 150,000, which is the kind of unemployment that has not been seen in a long time, website Al Jazeera (aljazeera.com) reports.

According to the Croatian Employment Service, the number of employed citizens at the end of June was 1,512,452, which was 73,021 or 4.6% less than at the end of June 2019, when according to final state statistics the number of employed people in Croatia totaled 1,585,473.

Nearly one in 20 citizens who worked in mid-2019 is not working anymore, while the decrease in the number of employed citizens during that period approximately amounted to the population of Zadar.

Meanwhile, the number of unemployed citizens jumped from 114,498 at the end of June 2019 to 150,651 at the end of June 2020, which is almost a third more.
