Andrej Plenkovic, Prime Minister in Croatian Government
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has said that the goal is to get everything ready for introducing the euro as of Jan. 1, 2023.
For that reason a national plan for replacing the kuna with the euro, unveiled at a Nov. 12 session of the council tasked with introducing the euro, will have to be carried out, he added.
It was announced earlier that the euro in Croatia will be exchanged at a rate of HRK7,5345, website Index reports.
Plenkovic presided over the seventh session of the national council for the introduction of the euro as the official currency in Croatia, at which participants discussed and adopted the national plan for replacing the kuna with the euro, a strategic document jointly prepared by the Croatian National Bank and the government.
If it meets all the criteria, Croatia may introduce the euro as early as on Jan. 1, 2023, and for that to be organized the national plan needs to be implemented, Plenkovic said after the session.
