Serbian Finance Minister Sinisa Mali and representatives of the City of Belgrade and of French and Chinese contractor companies signed a memorandum of understanding on the Belgrade Metro project on Jan. 22.
The other signatories were Stanko Kantar, director of the Belgrade Metro and Train public utility, Philippe Delleur, vice president of the French Almstom Group, Olivier Bouvard, general manager of the Egis Rail company of France, and a representative of the Chinese company Power China.
Mali said there were many activities that were part of the preparations to build the subway system that could not be seen on the day-to-day level. He added that a lot had been done to prepare for the start of construction in the previous period, like pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, a project of building the track system, a detailed regulation plan and a general regulation plan.
It was agreed that the French companies would deliver the trains and electric machine subsystems, i.e. the equipment of the subway system, while Power China would perform the construction work, building the infrastructure.
