The Air Serbia national air carrier announced on May 4 that it had transported 282,509 passengers via regular flights, or 84 percent more year-on-year and 53 percent more than its record in the prepandemic year of 2019.

Air Serbia conducted 3,167 flights from the airports in Belgrade, Nis and Kraljevo in April or 66 percent more than the previous year and 35 percent more than in 2019, the company said in a statement.

"During nine consecutive months, i.e. from July 2022 to April 2023, our company saw record results on the monthly level in terms of the number of passengers that it carried and the number of realized flights. Given that the summer season in the aviation industry is in progress and that numerous tourist destinations are increasingly more active, we believe that our results will be even better," Air Serbia GM commercial and strategy Bosko Rupic said.

He added that in April the airline had expanded its network by five destinations and that the growth trend would continue in May. Serbia's national air carrier conducted its first ever flights to Tel Aviv, Ankara, Catania, Izmir and Lisbon in April.
