Serbia will for the first time have a national stand at the world's biggest trade fair for video games, Gamescom, taking place in Cologne from Aug. 23 to 27, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce announced on Aug. 21.
This is the world's leading business platform for the gaming industry, and with the help of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the Serbian Games Association, nine companies will showcase their achievements at the event, according to the announcement.
"The Serbian Chamber of Commerce is supporting the participation of Serbian game developers at the biggest global trade fair, because we have recognized the importance of the gaming industry within the rapidly growing IT sector," head of the Chamber's Sector for Strategic Analyses, Services and Internationalization Mihailo Vesovic said.
He stressed the potential of Serbia's gaming industry through the fact that last year, 15 of the country's biggest gaming companies earned a revenue of EUR150 million, and that - also last year - more than 100 million people worldwide played video games made in Serbia.
