Vladimir Putin (Serbian Presidency/Dimitrije Goll)
Official election results say that 10.8% of Russian citizens who voted in Belgrade supported President Vladimir Putin in Russia’s presidential polls.
A total of 4,726 Russian citizens exercised their right to vote in Serbia.
According to 3,824 valid ballots, 512 voters (10.8%) voted for Putin, while most of the votes went to a deputy speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament, Vladislav Davankov of , the New People party, who won 3,185 votes (67.4%).
Nikolai Kharitonov, a deputy from the Communist Party, received 73 votes (1.5%), and the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Leonid Slutsky, received 54 votes (1.1%).
The founder of the non-governmental organization Russian Democratic Society, Peter Nikitin, who provided the media with the official results, said that thousands of people went to the polls "to use their presence and their votes to show that despite propaganda and electoral manipulation, a huge number of Russians do not support Putin's dictatorship and aggression.”
