Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is on March 21 taking part in the first global Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels, and said before the start of the gathering that there would be no survival without nuclear energy.

"Today it is important that we understand how behind we are and what wrong decisions we made 35 or 40 years ago and the importance attributed to this summit indicates how much electricity we will be lacking in the future. Without nuclear energy, we will not be able to survive," Vucic told reporters ahead of the summit.

Serbia will have to change its habits and legal norms because of, as he put it, the arrival of artificial intelligence, electric cars, laziness in coal mining, and a need to give up fossil fuels.

"Nuclear energy is green energy," he told Serbian media.

The organizers of the summit are the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the Kingdom of Belgium. Vucic will attend the adoption of a joint declaration and will address the gathered participants at the first session of the Summit planned for the speeches of national leaders. He will also have a number of bilateral meetings with European and world officials.
