Chairman of the Kosovo government's Commission for Missing Persons Andin Hoti has said that membership in the Council of Europe (CoE) will enable Kosovo to sue Serbia for the crimes committed.

Hoti told Pristina media that the recommendation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe's (PACE) Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy to invite Kosovo to join CoE, gave hope that after becoming a full member Kosovo would sue Serbia for the crimes committed in Kosovo.

He added that Kosovo's full membership in CoE would give the Commission for Missing Persons the right to use legal instances.

"So far, more than 2,800 exhumations have been carried out and the search is still on for 1,598 missing persons. Exhumations are done mostly based on information we receive from citizens and on other forms, and possibly sometimes on indirect information we get from Serbia," said Hoti.
