Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Aug. 17 that since announcements that the main bridge over the Ibar river in Kosovska Mitrovica would be opened the Serbian authorities were in constant contact with representatives of the international community and KFOR, with whom they "have very sound cooperation" and that he expected them to keep their word that the bridge would not be opened without mutual agreement.
At a manifestation called Days of Proja (corn bread) and Cheese in Medvedjica, he said the elections in Kosovo were called for Feb. 9 and that "everything is a campaign to them now," which is why he expected additional provocation and problems.
"We believe that KFOR will stay true to its promise and primary job in line with Resolution 1244" of the U.N. Security Council, Vucic said.
