Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Djuric said on Aug. 22 that those behind the recent threats to several of the country’s embassies “want to effect a change in the direction of Serbia’s foreign policy.”

Djuric told Pink TV that the attackers’ main goal is to “dissuade those acting on Serbia’s behalf from representing Serbian interests, particularly with regards to Kosovo and Metohija.”

Stating that no new threats have occurred, Djuric reiterated that “Serbia will not back down from its interests, but rather increase its activity.”

The minister also insisted that it is necessary to conduct a thorough investigation into the political background of the threats – issued to Serbia’s embassies in Austria and Germany, and soon after to its embassy in Switzerland.
