Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic talked on Sept. 17 with U.S. Ambassador Christopher Hill about cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector and an agreement on strategic cooperation that will soon be signed. They concurred that the Strategic Cooperation Agreement between the governments of Serbia and the U.S., which will be signed in Washington soon, was an important step in advancing bilateral cooperation between the two states, where the energy sector has an increasingly important place.
"The U.S. has also in the past decade been one of the biggest investors in Serbia and I believe this agreement will open the door to new investments in the area of energy, which will boost energy security and a sustainable transition to clean sources of energy," said Djedovic Handanovic.
Ambassador Hill said he was very happy with the development of energy projects in which U.S. companies were also involved, and that the agreement due to be signed in Washington would additionally strengthen the cooperation.
