The Kosovo special prosecutor's office on Dec. 9 filed an indictment against a person believed to be connected to an assault on KFOR members in Zvecan on May 29, 2023.

According to a press release, the suspect is charged with assault on an official and being part of a crowd perpetrating the crime of hooliganism.

According to the indictment, the suspect assaulted and put in serious jeopardy members of the KFOR peacekeeping mission and of the Kosovo police, in complicity and coordination with other Serb defendants from Kosovo and Serbia, with the use of "violence, weapons or other means."

Violence broke out in Zvecan, northern Kosovo, during a Serb protest against the entry of the ethnic Albanian mayor into the municipality seat as he only won the election after the Serbs boycotted it. More than 90 members of KFOR sustained minor and serious injuries.
