Opposition caucuses in the National Assembly of Serbia have submitted a request for the dismissal of Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic, Green-Left Front MP Radomir Lazic told a press conference on Dec. 11.
According to him, the motion was made over “violations of the Constitution of Serbia, of the National Assembly Act and the National Assembly Rules of Procedure.”
“It is within the National Assembly’s purview to pass laws, law amendments, [and] adopt budgets, but the passing of laws and adoption of budgets must be preceded by a public debate. The public debate is conducted in general terms and on specific points, and every member of Parliament has the right to participate in this debate,” Lazovic explained.
Lazovic concluded that Speaker Brnabic’s behavior has thus far been inappropriate.
