So far, 60 professors of the University in Pristina relocated to North Mitrovica have signed the online petition of support to the students’ protests.

The petition was launched on Dec. 11 by the professors who distanced themselves from the announcement of the Rector’s Collegium, supporting the policy of President Aleksandar Vucic. The professors urged the University to honor the students’ right to freedom, safety and work.

“We, the signing members of the academic community of the University in Pristina with the temporary seat in Kosovska Mitrovica, declare our unreserved support to the students and colleagues in the nation in all the demands they have presented at the blockades. With their declaration and lack of solidarity, the Rector’s Collegium of the University in Pristina with the temporary seat in Kosovska Mitrovica minimizes the students’ demands and does not contribute to the solution of the situation, nor does it represent our personal stance. In this, probably the most difficult environment ever for the functioning of our University, we expressly demand the honoring of fundamental rights to freedom, safety and work for our children,” stated the university professors in North Mitrovica.
