At a Jan. 5 session, the Serbian Cabinet adopted a decision to set up a Coordinating Body for directing work to ensure secure oil and natural gas supply, as proposed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Jan. 4.

According to a press release, this body will be an umbrella working group that will direct and coordinate the work and activities of working groups keeping track of the activities of the U.S. Treasury Department, the office for oversight of foreign assets related to the potential introduction of sanctions against the NIS oil company and the working group for negotiations for a contract on natural gas supply and deliveries from Russia to Serbia.

Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic will preside over the new Coordinating Body, whose purpose is to secure the needed petroleum and natural gas supply to cover market needs due to the possibility that the U.S. will impose sanctions on NIS.

The government also adopted a Conclusion on forming a working group to conduct talks with the representatives of teachers about the demands of educational workers for higher salaries.
