Emmanuel Macron, Belgrade, Aug. 29 2024 (BETAPHOTO/Milos Miskov)
French President Emmanuel Macron said in a Feb. 8 telephone conversation with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that he was convinced that Serbia would "find a way to reach a dialogue" in which "everyone's feelings will be respected and which will enable the strengthening of trust in institutions and Serbia's progress on its European path," the Elysee Palace said in a press release.
President Macron reiterated to Vucic his "conviction that Serbia's future is European," which he said last August in Belgrade. "In this context, he said he trusted Serbia's capacity to find, whilst rejecting violence on all sides, a path of dialogue respectful of everyone's feelings, which will strengthen trust in institutions and pave the way to Serbia’s progress on the European path," the Elysee Palace said in the release.
Vucic had previously said on Instagram that in a telephone conversation he had informed Macron about the political situation and protests in Serbia and conveyed to him his belief that "dialogue is the only way out of the political crisis."
