Political analyst Djordje Vukadinovic said on Feb. 13 that the talk about Vojvodina's separatism was a thing of the past adding that the National Declaration on Vojvodina in Serbia, was a bad government spin to try to absorb the dissatisfaction of students and citizens.
In an interview with the latest edition of the NIN weekly, he said that the authorities had revealed their irresponsibility and that, by attempting to light a political fire which they as the "firefighters" would then put out, they had only harmed themselves.
"In the series of scandalous and sometimes tragicomical spins which the authorities have resorted to to cushion the eruption of dissatisfaction on the part of citizens and students, the one about a so-called 'national declaration on Vojvodina in Serbia' is probably the most incredible and most unfortunate for the government," Vukadinovic said. He added that student protests had revealed that the ruling party's power "has been overblown by the media."
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has announced a rally in Sremska Mitrovica on Feb. 15 where a National Declaration on Vojvodina in Serbia will be adopted.
