Ana Brnabic (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
Ana Brnabic, the speaker of the Serbian parliament, said on Feb. 26 that the state had the right and obligation to investigate the finances of non-governmental organizations as there should not be any "sacred cows" in any segment of society.
"Where's the problem with investigating? Here we have the theory that there can possibly be people with ill intent, criminals or corrupt in any sector, except in the non-governmental sector," Brnabic told Pink TV.
She said there had been protest after protest in Serbia for years, but that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic survived them all and that Serbia continued to achieve progress thanks to results, his personal efforts and ongoing direct communication with the people.
