Ecological Uprising leader and Serbian MP Aleksandar Cuta Jovanovic said on March 13 that in several days time police could refuse to carry out their orders to "club, beat and clear the streets."

"We are seeing more and more scenes of police refusing to beat children, citizens and when this happens on a larger scale - that will be his [Aleksandar Vucic's] political end, but I am not sure that is going to be precisely on March 15," Jovanovic told the Politika daily in an interview on a protest announced for March 15.

"If you look at the crisis that we are in, you see Vucic pushing strongly, which provokes the anger of opposition-leaning citizens," Jovanovic said, adding that "He is secure in his political strength, the strength of police, the army and state."

"The political and social crisis in Serbia will be solved when Aleksandar Vucic is no longer in power," Jovanovic stressed adding that Serbia "is a collection of major crimes for which no one has been called to account for."
