Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on March 21 that "Serbia is sick and tired of those who have been terrorizing it for four months now" and announced that he would soon call on people to stand up to the former "in a peaceful and dignified manner."

"It is boiling in Serbia, literally boiling, they just can't see it. Serbia is sick and tired of those who have been terrorizing it for four months now. And we must do everything to avoid violence, while standing up to those who are tearing down and destroying our country," Vucic said in a video posted on his Instagram.

He added that for that reason, "I will call on people in the shortest possible time to show in a peaceful and dignified manner that they want a free Serbia."

"Rest assured, there will be no shortage of courage or anything else, even if there are 1,000 or 2,000 of us. No one will be able to stop that seed of resistance and freedom from sprouting and growing. In the end, Serbia will be victorious. Expect a call soon," said Vucic.

The Serbian president claims that "every baker, hairdresser, restaurant or cafe owner is suffering because of the problems caused over the past four months." "Because people don't know how to make ends meet for the first time in 10 years, because people increasingly can't see where and how to achieve a better future for themselves and their children," added Vucic.

Student-led anti-government protests have been ongoing in Serbia for four months now, ever since the death of 15 people in the collapse of a concrete canopy at the Novi Sad railway station sparked accusations of widespread corruption and negligence.
