Serbia’s Commissioner for Refugees and Migration Natasa Stanisavljevic and the director of the development sector of the Swedish Migration Agency (SMA), Markus Toremar, signed a partnership agreement in Sweden on March 28.
The agreement outlines the implementation of activities within the framework of a project called, "Strengthening regional cooperation in migration management between Western Balkan countries and neighboring EU member states, in accordance with EU legal frameworks and international standards," the Serbian Commisariate for Refugees and Migration said.
The signing of the agreement strengthens the partnership and enhances joint efforts to build more effective, humane, and sustainable migration policies, which will contribute to improving regional cooperation in the field and strengthen institutional capacities, the statement said. The cooperation plays a key role in establishing stable and sustainable migration management systems, in line with European and international standards.
Serbia and Sweden have long been partners in the areas of migration, legal security, and the integration of refugees. This continued cooperation will significantly contribute to establishing a more humane and efficient support system, the statement went on to say.
