Serbia’s new cabinet should be formed by April 18, the deadline for Parliament to elect a new prime minister, or snap parliamentary elections will be called, outgoing prime minister and president of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party Milos Vucevic said on April 10.

In the meantime, Prime Minister-designate Djuro Macut must notify the National Assembly once he has concluded all talks with coalition partners, prepared his introduction speech and selected his ministers, Vucevic explained.

The caretaker PM also stated that the current cabinet includes ministers who deserve to retain their posts, while others “should be replaced,” but insisted it would be “unfair” of him to name names.

Vucevic also underlined that he participated in discussions with Macut not only as outgoing PM but also as the president of the Progressives, of which Macut is a member.
