All day demonstrations in Novi Pazar on April 12 under the slogan, "Freedom Rules the Mahallah," whose participants included a large number of university students and other citizens from a number of Serbian cities, ended with a reading of demands and musical performances.

After the demands were read, students of the Novi Pazar State University said that, if they were not met and if the daily acts of violence and hate speech against them and other citizens continued, there would be no justice.

"What remains for us is the struggle of love -- love for our own people and the country we call home. The words of the students are not empty. They are the words of the truth that has united the nation so well that the hearts of its people pump as one," one student said, using the watchword of the protests -- "pump it," adding that, "In this newly discovered closeness we understand each other without illegal weapons, without repression, blackmail and violence."

She called on all "who have not felt that closeness" and "are imprisoned in the regime's cages" to liberate themselves and allow themselves to experience freedom.
