There is no reason to call extraordinary elections in the country since the current Parliament has a stable majority, Interior Minister and leader of the ruling Socialist Party of Serbia Ivica Dacic said on May 8.
The politician went on to claim it is hypocritical of the university students who have been blockading their schools for six months to request a snap election after previously stating that meeting their demands was “beyond Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s purview.”
In Dacic’s opinion, were elections to be called immediately – as the protesting students have asked – only the ruling Serbian Progressive Party and Socialist Party of Serbia could gather enough signatures and submit tickets without delay.
