Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic talked at the seat of the government on May 15 with German Ambassador to Serbia Anke Konrad and German KfW development bank director for Southeast Europe and Turkey Klaus Muller on cooperation on ongoing projects in the area of energy and plans for investing in renewable energy resources and advancing energy efficiency.

The Ministry quoted Djedovic Handanovic as stressing the importance of "a climate partnership" with Germany and thanked it for its consistent support to modernizing Serbia's energy sector.

Konrad stressed the importance of the country's long-lasting support in the process of energy transition. "During the past 25 years, Germany has allocated around EUR5 billion in support to the energy sector in Serbia through developmental cooperation. We rejoice that Serbia is committed to the goal of attaining climate neutrality by 2050. We are ready to support your plans in the process of decarbonization and want to additionally improve cooperation as well as identify new projects together," she said.

Muller said that the KfW bank was interested in joining a program of support for advancing energy efficiency in residential buildings in Serbia.

He said that the bank was devoted to supporting Serbia in developing and integrating hydrogen technologies which were gaining more and more importance in the EU.
