The BETA News Agency will mark its 31st anniversary at the presentation of the Dragan Janjic Award and opening of the exhibition of works submitted for the BETA’s Photo of the Year Contest.
The ceremony is to start at 6:00 p.m. at the European House in Belgrade, where the awards will be presented to the winners of this year’s contest. The first prize at the 22nd BETA’s Photo of the Year Contest went to a photo-reporter of the Ljubljana-based daily Dnevnik, Luka Cjuha, for the photograph titled “Bride Joins the Protest.”
The winner of the second prize is a photo-reporter of the Nova portal and daily, Amir Hamzagic, for the photo with the title “Pressure,” and the third prize went to Marko Spasojevic, a photo-reporter of the Politika daily, for the photo titled “Audience.” The jury also selected the best photo from the life and inclusion of people with disabilities – the Damjan Diklic award, the laureate of which is a photo-reporter of the Banjaluka City Authority, Aleksandar Cavic, for the photo called “Happiness.”
The public award went to freelance photographer Uros Arsic for the photo “A Step from Justice.” 64 authors from eight countries participated in BETA’s 22nd contest, who sent a total of 248 photographs, among which the jury selected 44 for the traditional exhibition and catalogue.
Bojan Cvetic and Milica Mihajlovic are this year’s winners of the Dragan Janjic award for media literacy, which the BETA News Agency and the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia are awarding for the fourth time.
