The organizers of the university student blockades are entitled to request a snap election, but they must also explain why they did not make the demand six months ago, when it would have made sense, but instead claimed not to be interested in politics, Milos Vucevic, the leader of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party and former prime minister, said on June 2.

“They said they were not interested in politics yet have now waded deeply into politics, which those of us from the political arena prefer because now we know how to communicate with them. They have entered the political arena and will now receive political answers to everything they do,” Vucevic, the newly-appointed presidential adviser for regional issues, told Happy TV.

The party head further stated that the Progressives will continue staging countrywide rallies throughout the summer, so as to talk and keep in touch with the public.
