The Serbian Foreign Ministry said in a press release on June 14 that Serbian citizens should avoid traveling to Israel and Iran until further notice due to the escalation of the conflict between these countries.

"Due to the deteriorated security situation and increased risk to personal safety, citizens are advised to avoid all travel to said countries until further notice," the statement read.

The statement further noted that the ministry was monitoring the situation in Israel and Iran and that it would inform the public about any changes in a timely manner.

Aleksandar Nikolic, honorary Serbian consul to Israel, said there were currently some 2,500 Serbian citizens in that country who were not permanent residents and that regular contact with them was being maintained. "They are mainly students of doctoral or postdoctoral programs, attending seminars or student exchanges," Nikolic told the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation on June 15.
