Serbian Minister of Public Investment Darko Glisic has said that the authorities are ready to earmark more than the RSD350 million (about EUR3 million) that has been designated so far, if the damage caused by the fires that affected multiple areas in Serbia last week exceeds that amount.
"We are ready to set aside funds, whatever the amount before that. Twenty-four million dinars has been earmarked especially for Zitoradja and we will also designate additional funds, if necessary," Glisic told reporters in the village of Bresnicic near Prokuplje.
He added that the size of the damage the fire had caused agriculture would be determined in the next few days.
He went on to say that reports from the five towns and 11 municipalities affected by the fires were currently being collected.
Glisic said he expected all the reports to be submitted within the next several days, after which they would be compared with the records of the Sector for Emergency Situations and then the process of damage classification would begin.
