Momcilo Trajkovic, a member of the Serbian National Council of Kosovo and Metohija, said on July 28 that a recent statement by Minister Ivica Dacic regarding the Brussels Agreement was tantamount to admitting to an act of treason.
In a comment for BETA, Trajkovic said that Dacic had acknowledged his own responsibility as a signatory to the Agreement, while highlighting the responsibility of President Aleksandar Vucic as well.
“Dacic’s statement about the Brussels Agreement is an admission of treason. It is unacceptable for the highest-ranking state officials to be so irresponsible as to allow themselves to be deceived. This only confirms that decisions concerning national interests are not made based on consultations with institutions, but with individuals,” Trajkovic said.
In his words, the public prosecutor should question both Dacic and Vucic and “initiate proceedings to hold them accountable for betraying national interests.”
Trajkovic has cautioned that the consequences of the Brussels Agreement were catastrophic for the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija and were difficult to reverse, explaining that, by signing the Agreement, Serbia surrendered all sovereignty in Kosovo and Metohija.
Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, who is also the country’s interior minister and leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia, said earlier that the authorities in Belgrade were deceived when they signed the Brussels Agreement on April 19, 2013.
